MOUNTAIN BIKING: Ash Canyon Trails

← NV MICKEY DITCH 1 SWGW CANAL SW MICKEY DITCH 1 SWGW CANAL SW Single Tracks →

Description

This is a network of singletrack trails criss-crossing a ridge between the Ash and Vicee Canyons. There are plenty of different route options as you get farther up the hill and the trails intersect each other. Although not very technical these trails are fun from the climbs and thus fast descents. There is a fun and twisty trail that follows along the creek flowing out of Ash canyon. The close proximity to town makes these trails popular with everyone and you may encounter hikers on the lower routes. Not having much in the way of trees until you get up high, these trails are pretty exposed and can be very hot in the summer months.
A little history; this area, like a lot of NV used to be open to ATV’s, however after a large forest fire in ‘06 (?) sparked by an ATV the area was closed to all motor vehicles. There are several left over old jeep roads running through here that mother nature is slowly taking back, this network crosses them in several places but the trail network itself is all singletrack.
